Colts: Fox Sports personality takes shot at Carson Wentz over vaccine hesitation

We’re only in Week 3, but the Indianapolis Colts are facing a must-win game against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.

Falling to 0-3 with a head-to-head loss in the division would be a doomsday scenario, so Frank Reich better have his side ready to play.

Unfortunately for Indy, it’s seems like a matter of time until Carson Wentz, who suffered two ankle sprains last week and has yet to practice, is ruled out.

The silver lining here is that Wentz is already walking without a noticeable limp and should avoid being placed on injured reserve. The 28-year-old was even in great spirits discussing the injury to reporters on Thursday.

The only problem? Wentz made a comment that opened the door for folks to criticize his vaccination status.

Fox Sports personality Joy Taylor jumped all over this with an epic comeback live on air during Thursday’s episode of “The Herd.”

Like the tweet states, this is an all-time troll job from Taylor.

As for Wentz, he had to have seen this coming, no? You simply can’t proclaim your skepticism towards the vaccine and turn around and say you’re listening to doctors’ advice when it comes to recovering from an injury — or injuries plural, in this case.

"“I’m not going to go in-depth on why, but it’s a personal decision for me and my family,” Wentz told reporters last month. “I respect everybody else’s decision and I just ask that everybody does the same for me.“That’s just where I’m at, where I’m at with my family. That’s why understanding the protocol to truly understand everything we can do to avoid what happened this week. It is what it is whether we agree.”“I think that’s a personal decision of mine … I just want to see more, I want to learn more, I want to get more educated about it,” he said. “I just have to think about it. Don’t want to rush into anything. I just gotta learn."

We don’t want to come down too hard on Wentz, who’s been more open discussing the vaccine and why he hasn’t gotten it yet than most players. However, it’s almost impossible to deny how foolish Taylor made him look here.

How can he trust the Colts’ team doctors to get his ankles healed in a timely fashion, but have so much dubiety about receiving a fully-authorized (!) vaccine that will help the country as a whole move past the pandemic?

We understand it’s a personal decision and the NFL doesn’t require its players to get vaccinated, but Wentz really exposed himself here.

Credit to Taylor for calling him out and highlighting the blatant hypocrisy in his rationale for still being unvaccinated. It definitely isn’t going to change his mind, but maybe it’ll help Wentz and other players who are opposed to getting the vaccine realize how they look for picking and choosing what medical professionals to listen to.

At this point, that’s all we can hope for.
