1. Jordan Wilkins

The NFL is a quarterback-dominated league, but that hasn’t stopped teams from having four running backs consume roster spots.

Granted, the injury history at the position is undeniable, but four just seems like way too many in the Colts’ case.

Jordan Wilkins will barely play for the Colts this season.

More specifically, Jordan Wilkins eating up a roster spot that could’ve been used for another defensive back or linebacker makes very little sense. We understand the Colts want insurance behind Marlon Mack, who’s coming off an Achilles injury, but can someone tell us the purpose Wilkins will serve this season?

Wilkins has experience and has been with the Colts for three years. There’s something to be said for that. However, the 27-year-old needs a major injury to even have a chance of notching 50 carries.

Assuming Jonathan Taylor continues ascending up the RB ranks and Nyheim Hines builds on a breakout 2020, Wilkins figures to keep the bench warm all year. We haven’t even mentioned that Mack looks fully recovered from his Achilles surgery.

If you want to keep four RBs on the roster, that’s fine. We just would’ve preferred it if the fourth spot was given to undrafted rookie Deon Jackson as opposed to a fourth-year veteran who’s produced very little in his career.
