Indianapolis Colts fans had the pleasure of watching Peyton Manning quarterback the organization for 13 years. Though his throwing motion and famously happy feet in the pocket looked a little wonky, very few QBs had better touch and threw a prettier spiral.

With that in mind, has anybody ever wondered how Manning would fare if he played another sport? In terms of sports that could accentuate his arm talent, basketball probably wouldn’t go over well. The same goes for soccer and hockey … and maybe tennis. Who knows?

However, we’ve always been intrigued by the thought of Manning gearing back and firing a baseball. While that requires almost entirely different mechanics and discipline compared to throwing a football, we’re talking about one of the greatest QBs of all time.

Surely Manning wouldn’t make a fool of himself trying to pitch, right? Not exactly. The former five-time MVP threw out the first pitch at Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game, and, while he didn’t overthrow his catcher, his pitch fell short of the 60 feet separating home plate from the pitcher’s mound.

You had a feeling Manning was going to get trolled after this, and Colts legend Reggie Wayne answered the call by roasting him on Twitter.

Reggie Wayne flamed Peyton Manning after the former Colts QB’s poor first pitch at the MLB All-Star Game.

It seems like Wayne’s been waiting for his opportunity to get revenge on Manning for the countless passes he short-armed over the years, because he took his former gunslinger to the woodshed here. It’s almost as if Manning didn’t even rehearse before the first pitch.

Manning, who will become a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August, appeared to expedite his windup, so he was really doomed from the start. For any Colts fans who follow baseball, a windup is all about generating power, not getting the pitch off as fast as possible.

In the 14-time Pro Bowler’s defense, the rushed move can probably be attributed to his NFL career and having to get rid of the football in a hurry to avoid being sacked. Unfortunately for Manning, this also resulted in him being embarrassed in front of a packed stadium.

We’re only kidding, though you can tell he was definitely disappointed in himself. In all seriousness, it was nice to see Wayne and Manning connect again. If only the two-time champ had a Twitter account so he could respond to his former star wideout. Eli, do it for him!

Since he doesn’t, Manning might have to wait until his Hall of Fame ceremony to get some retribution on Wayne for clowning him in front of his 107,000 followers.
