Indianapolis Colts: 3 Best quarterbacks team will face in 2021
By Mike Luciano
2. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (Week 5, October 11)
Jackson and the Ravens actually have had some struggles against the Colts when they have matched up, as Matt Eberflus’ defense and players like Darius Leonard in the heart of said defense can help cover a ton of ground and somewhat limit Jackson’s rushing ability.
Things will be different this time around, however. On top of Baltimore’s commitment to increasing the complexity in their passing game, they have a few more toys for Jackson to play with. No longer can the Colts take advantage of some rookies and journeymen in their receiving corps.
Can the Colts slow down Lamar Jackson?
Baltimore has surrounded Jackson with more perimeter weapons, as the addition of Sammy Watkins in free agency and Rashod Bateman in the first round should make it much easier for Jackson to beat teams with his arm alone. With that new wrinkle, defending him just got even harder, somehow.
Of course, Jackson possesses the ability to reel off a huge game-breaking run at the drop of a hat, which makes him one of the most lethal players to watch on a game-to-game basis. One false step from Leonard, and Jackson could win a tough contest for the Ravens with a breakaway touchdown scamper.
