Scouting Report. 1. 838. Pick Analysis. WR. North Carolina. DazzNewsome. player

While quarterback Sam Howell received most of the praise for UNC’s offensive turnaround, and wide receiver Dyami Brown might end up getting picked higher, Newsome is just as viable an NFL prospect. After recording 1,000 yards receiving in 2019, Newsome totaled 684 yards and six touchdowns last season, serving as the ideal slot receiver for Howell.

Newsome’s skillset is becoming increasingly valued in the NFL, as the market for fast wide receivers equally comfortable with making plays as a runner and blazing down the field is growing with each passing season. Considering Indianapolis’ need for a game-breaker at wide receiver, the fit would be a match made in heaven.

Hilton might leave the Colts in free agency, and Parris Campbell could also be on his way out if the third-year receiver doesn’t develop in the way that Ballard and Reich expect. Newsome’s speed and ability to go down the field from the slot should make him a very valuable weapon in this Indianapolis offense.

Even at a time where speedy slot receivers are becoming a dime a dozen, Newsome had produced enough in a very difficult conference to earn selection in the middle rounds of the draft. Even as a rookie, Newsome should be on the field frequently.
