Adding a veteran like Kirk Cousins could make the Colts a championship contender

While Cousins served as the archetype for average quarterbacks during the end of his stay in Washington and first year in Minnesota, saying that Cousins is bad is not a defendable position right now.

Not only did he overcome his playoff demons in 2019, but he had one of his best seasons ever in 2020 despite injuries galore on offense, completing 68% of his passes, throwing for just under 4,300 yards, and setting a new career high with 35 touchdown passes.

With the Vikings coming off a 7-9 season and miles away from taking over the division by unseating Green Bay, GM Rick Spielman might want to trade Cousins, and the Colts should be all over him.

The main reason that Stafford was such a valued commodity was the fact that veteran quarterbacks with as much production as him rarely hit the trade market. Rather than take a bunch of gambles on rookies and/or somewhat green young players, Ballard can add a proven quality starter in Cousins and make the push for the Super Bowl.
