5. Justin Fields

Justin Fields is one of the highest-rated QB prospects in the 2021 class.

Ballard provided his thoughts on the incoming quarterback class last week, and if we learned anything from it, it’s that he isn’t entirely sold on any of the prospects who could potentially fall to the Colts at No. 21 overall.

Because of that, Justin Fields comes in at No. 5 on this list. The Ohio State star is a bit of a polarizing prospect among analysts and scouts thanks to his rough three-game stretch before he wiped the floor with Clemson’s defense in the CFP semifinals. We happen to love what the future holds for Fields at the professional level, but being that Indy would likely have to trade up to draft him, we just can’t picture him in a Colts uniform.

Furthermore, the franchise seems to think very highly of 2020 fourth-rounder Jacob Eason and it’s an extreme rarity that teams draft quarterbacks in back-to-back years.
