1. TY Hilton

TY Hilton wasn’t reliable enough for the Colts to give him a WR1 payday.

We almost got tricked into flip-flopping here.

Down the stretch, TY Hilton showed flashes of his old form, logging 81, 110, and 86 yards with four total touchdowns during Weeks 12-14 (TEN, @ HOU, @ LVR).

Overall, though, Hilton caught just five touchdown passes, a remarkably low number considering that hot stretch, and added just 762 receiving yards. That’s not a primary pass catcher, and he’ll turn 32 midway through next season.

With Michael Pittman Jr.’s late-season emergence impressing everyone in Indy’s radius, Zach Pascal becoming entrenched in the passing game, and Parris Campbell due back next season, the Colts don’t need to overpay for more depth. They need to overpay for an elite topper — which they totally can afford this time around.

Names like Allen Robinson, AJ Green, Marvin Jones, and even Will Fuller might be more appealing, at this point, based on what Hilton will command. What about Corey Davis of the Titans, if the Colts are confident in Pittman’s development on the outside?

Rarely does a contender have the luxury of overspending on a wide receiver in any given offseason, but that’s the position the Colts find themselves in entering 2021.

It shouldn’t be Hilton, however.
