Colts linebacker Darius Leonard won the game, but nearly lost his wedding ring … again.

You know what they say … “fool me once, shame on you” and all that. But what happens if you’re fooling yourself twice? Is there an expression for that?

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard would sure like to know, because he nearly saw his marriage flash before his eyes yet again (joking, but seriously, this would’ve angered his wife).

Back in Week 2 after a win over the Minnesota Vikings, Leonard was a nice guy and decided to give his game-worn gloves to a fan at Lucas Oil Stadium. But he later realized when he tossed them into the crowd, his wedding ring had come off inside the glove. The ring was eventually returned to Leonard, and he learned his lesson.

Before giving his gloves to fans after the Colts’ win over the Packers, Leonard triple-checked before tossing them into the crowd.

He had someone take it out for him! That’s what those sideline guys are for, I guess. Gotta make sure the Maniac is in good hands.

He was ready to uncork them to a lucky fan and then likely had flashbacks to Week 2, remembering the look on his wife’s face. We can’t imagine Mrs. Leonard lets those mistakes fly, knowing who Darius is.

We’re just glad he got to enjoy the win instead of worrying about where his marriage hardware went. The Colts need Leonard solely focused on captaining the defense down the stretch as they look to get back to the postseason.

That goes for anyone not texting our guy back! You better be providing him the support he needs after all he’s put on the line. He’s already one of the best in the game in his third NFL season and that’s not changing anytime soon.

Indy has another home game on Sunday and it’ll be against the Tennessee Titans in a matchup that could very well decide the division. Leonard better quadruple check his gloves if the Colts win that one, because his excitement will be uncontrollable.
