2. Austin Blythe
OL Austin Blythe’s career took off as soon as he left the Colts.
We know what you’re thinking: How could an offensive lineman possibly make this list? While there’s no denying the Colts have one of (if not the) best OL in the NFL, they sorely lack depth behind their five starters.
During the 2017 offseason, Indianapolis waived versatile center Austin Blythe, a former seventh-round pick back who appeared in just eight games (one start) for the team while playing less than 10% of the offensive snaps. One season later, however, he was an integral component of the Los Angeles Rams’ journey to the Super Bowl. That year, the Iowa product started all 16 games and impressively didn’t miss a single snap.
Blythe earned that playing time, too, as Pro Football Focus gave him a 76.4 grade after he conceded zero sacks and was flagged just two times. He understandably came back down to earth in 2019, but there’s no doubting the Colts — in a season where players are going down left and right with injury — could use him as insurance at center and right guard.
