Colts owner Jim Irsay posted a motivational message to the fan base ahead of Week 2.

We seriously hope that Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich gave the team a tongue-lashing in the locker room following the team’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars to open the season.

It’s almost impossible to point the blame at any one player or position group as every unit performed below their standards. The offense was stymied after getting off to a hot start and made a number of inexcusable mistakes. Not only did Philip Rivers throw two costly interceptions, but wideout TY Hilton dropped two straight passes on the Colts’ final drive in the fourth quarter.

The defense, meanwhile, put up zero resistance against the pass.

Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew completed 19 of his 20 pass attempts (95%) for 173 yards and three touchdowns without turning the ball over.

With all of this in mind, it’d be understandable if fans in Indianapolis needed an uplifting message leading into the Colts’ Week 2 matchup against Minnesota. Well, team owner Jim Irsay answered the call in a video posted to social media on Thursday that can only be described as bizarre but awesome.

Just what the doctor ordered.

Let’s start by saying that no owner in the NFL is capable of matching Irsay’s energy. We seriously dare you to try and name another executive in the league who would record a nearly-minute long video while he’s about to bench press an absurd amount of weight.

It would have been nice for the 61-year-old to have recorded this motivational message in a room that didn’t contain echos, but the bench press and dumbbell rack background was such a perfect touch that it was worth not being able to totally understand what he was yelling into the camera.

In the event that Indianapolis comes out sluggish against Minnesota on Sunday, Irsay and his boisterous message to the fanbase will be absolved of any blame. That burden will lie on the shoulders of Reich and the leaders in the locker room.

All told, if the Colts play with an ounce of energy that Irsay showcased in this video, they will have an excellent chance to avenge their ugly Week 1 loss.
