2. Highest Comp. % in Playoff Game w/ 450+ yards: 81.8 (2005)
Manning was as efficient as efficient can be with Indy.
And speaking of feather touch on the deep ball! Will we ever see a quarterback go for over 450 yards in a playoff game again while still completing 80% of his passes?!
And not by a razor-thin margin, either! Kind of by a significant percentage chunk!
On Jan. 9, 2005 against Denver, Manning took it upon himself to turn the RCA Dome into a playground, going an absurd 27-of-33 for 458 yards, four touchdowns, and a lone pick. That equates to a QB rating of 145.7.
With the inability to overlook Jake “The Snake” Plummer at home as a road date with the Patriots in the Divisional Round loomed, Manning summoned all of his talents to dismantle Denver. He tossed touchdowns to Reggie Wayne (twice), Dallas Clark, and James Mungro (remember?!), even rushing one in himself to make it a 35-3 game at the half.
You’ll never see a better singular effort — we hope. Thus far, Mahomes is known as the comeback king already, but this type of front-to-back dominance and ruthless efficiency (on the biggest stage!) is unheard of.
