2. 2009 AFC Championship Game
This victory doesn’t receive nearly enough recognition that it deserves, and we’ll never understand why. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Indianapolis faced off against a New York Jets team that wasn’t really flush with stars on offense.
Though the Colts ended up winning handily, some fans forget that Gang Green actually opened up an 11-point advantage in the closing minutes of the first half. However, that lead didn’t last very long as Peyton Manning brought the AFC South champs within four points at the stroke of halftime.
Indianapolis never looked back from there as the team blanked New York in the second half on the way to a decisive 30-17 victory to advance to the Super Bowl. Turning a double-digit deficit into nearly a two-touchdown difference on the scoreboard is incredibly impressive on that big of a stage, but it’s considered an afterthought as far as Colts playoff triumphs are concerned.
