The Colts activated TY Hilton from the active/non-football injury list.

Approximately 24 hours after the Indianapolis Colts made a necessary upgrade in the secondary by singing safety Tavon Wilson, they made another roster move that is guaranteed to uplift the spirits of the fan base.

The Colts announced on Wednesday that they activated TY Hilton from the active/non-football injury list, where he was placed at the start of training camp with a mild hamstring issue. With camp barely a week old, this is massive news for the 30-year-old wide receiver, who’s entering the final year of his contract.

To make room for Hilton on the roster, Indianapolis waived wideout Malik Henry, who was just cleared from the reserve/COVID list this week.

Fans in Indianapolis couldn’t help but cringe when they heard that Hilton was dealing with a hamstring issue, suffered during private workouts on his own watch. While initial reports indicated that it was just a mild strain, their concerns were justified, as the four-time Pro Bowler has dealt with several throughout his career.

However, the fact that he was shelved for a little less than two weeks is extremely encouraging, and suggests that he’ll be all systems go upon reporting to camp.

That’s huge for Hilton, who will need a big year to prove that he’s deserving of a lucrative contract extension. This offseason, he came out and disclosed his desire to retire with the Colts, and a bounce back season would go a long way in ensuring that happens.

A calf tear and a quad strain sidelined Hilton for six weeks in 2019, so it’s not much of a surprise that he posted career lows across the board. The lower leg injuries have really piled up for the former third-round pick, but he’s never let them slow him down before.

Last season marked the first time in his eight-year career that he missed more than two games, so the “fragile Hilton” narrative doesn’t really hold water.. Here’s to hoping that the Colts star makes it through camp without suffering a setback, and is ready to bamboozle opposing defenses come Week 1 on Sept. 13.
