The Colts are looking for contributions from everyone as they take a run at a championship. This second-year player will have the biggest leap from his rookie year and be a big part of their success.

Most people think that Parris Campbell is the second-year player who is most set up to have a big leap in production. They aren’t wrong about his production increasing. Campbell should be fully healthy and will have a better quarterback throwing him the ball.

While Campbell will have a nice second season, it’s actually Rock Ya-Sin who will have the biggest improvement from his rookie season. Ya-Sin was thrust into the starting cornerback role as a rookie and was put on an island at times. There were certainly some rocky games.

Ya-Sin learned a lot from his rookie season. He learned that he needs to trust his technique more and not get so grabby when a receiver gets by him. He also knows what the NFL game is like now. Matt Eberflus knows what he has in this player now too.

Rock Ya-Sin will be solid for years to come with the Colts

Ya-Sin now has experience and someone who has played the position at the highest level opposite of him. Xavier Rhodes has played at an All-Pro level before and can take Ya-Sin under his wing. Rhodes is the key to the secondary, but Ya-Sin is the key to their future.

For someone who has great ball skills, Ya-Sin only was able to grab one interception. I would expect that number to jump up this season. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him get at least three of those this season. He should get more opportunities to grab them with no one possibly taking his job.

The secondary as a whole underperformed last season. They were victimized late in the season and prevented the Colts from having any chance at a postseason berth. With Rhodes and T.J. Carrie being signed and having Ya-Sin with more experience, they should be a lot better this year.
