The 2020 draft picks for the Indianapolis Colts officially have their numbers.

It’s some big news this afternoon, as the Indianapolis Colts 2020 draft class were assigned their initial rookie numbers on Monday, as the Colts official social accounts announced.

These are just the initial numbers, as the rookie class will have an opportunity to change them after training camp, provided they make the final 53-man roster. However, there are definitely some intriguing numbers.

Former USC wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. will wear the number 86, which Jerome Pathon wore in the early years with Peyton Manning at the helm. Pittman Jr. will continue the trend of greats in the 21st century wearing numbers in the eighties, following Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison. Here’s to hoping he can make an impact even remotely close to those two.

Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor gets the number 28, which is a significant one. Marshall Faulk wore the 28 in his time with the Colts, which were five uber productive seasons. The excitement in Indianapolis will continue to build if Taylor indeed keeps the number.

Utah defensive back Julian Blackmon will wear the number 32, which fan favorite Edgerrin James wore in his time in Indy. It will be odd seeing that number on the defensive side of the ball.

Jacob Eason will roll with the number 9 for now, which doesn’t have much significance in Indianapolis or Baltimore lore. We shall see if he changes to 10 if given that opportunity.

Ball State offensive lineman Danny Pinter gets a special honor, the number 63, which is almost sacred around Indianapolis. Jeff Saturday wore it in his time snapping to Manning, where he earned two All-Pro selections and three Pro Bowl appearances.

Rounding out the class features Robert Windsor getting the 93, Isaiah Rogers snagging 34, Dezmon Patmon getting the 85, and Jordan Glasgow wearing the 59.
