Colts 2020 Mock Draft 8.0: Going quarterback late in the draft
It’s on to day three for this Colts mock draft, and it’s finally time to select a quarterback. The projections are all over the place with this, and it comes down to whether one of the top four falls to a spot where Ballard feels he can move up. In this scenario, it didn’t happen.
FIU’s James Morgan is the pick in round four. Morgan possesses very good arm talent, and the ability to push the ball vertically and attack vertically between zones. While the arm talent is good, Morgan needs to work on his anticipation and his footwork, so he’s a work in progress. The good news is he can sit for some time.
Yes, the Colts added both DeForest Buckner and Sheldon Day in free agency, the defensive line can always use depth. Arkansas defensive lineman McTelvin Agim flashes good abilities as a pass rusher and has good quickness to attack gaps. His technique needs some work, but there’s plenty of potential to bet on at this point in the draft.
Adding some help on the edge at this point makes a ton of sense, and Derrek Tuszka could be a diamond in the rough in the later rounds. He tested pretty well at the combine, and shows good ability to trim the edge and create pressure with strong hands and good quickness.
It was tough to decide whether a running back or another wide receiver should be the pick at the end here, and in this mock, it’s receiver. Isaiah Coulter might go much earlier than this, but for now, he’s the pick. Coulter is a well-rounded receiver who could contribute on day one as well.
