Free agency will be upon us this time next week. Here are some guys to keep your eye on who the Colts could sign that not everyone is talking about.

This time next week we will know a lot more about the Colts’ roster, as free agency will have started. In free agency, the team has a ton of money to spend. They have about $86 million they can play with. They certainly won’t use all of that, but here are some players they could bring in that are under the radar.

Taylor Gabriel, WR

In the event the Colts decide not to take a receiver in the first round of the draft, Gabriel could be a nice slot guy. He would be inexpensive because he missed 7 games last season, but not a health risk because it’s the first time in three years he has missed a game.

Gabriel still caught four touchdown passes in those 9 games he played in Chicago. He would be a nice third or fourth guy that they could bring in on the cheap. The Colts will likely go for someone bigger at this position, but they could do worse than Gabriel.

Vonn Bell, S

Bell has played some solid years with the Saints since being a second-round draft pick. In his four years in the league, he has not had fewer than 83 tackles in a season. Bell also recovered five fumbles last season and forced two of them.

Bell always seems to be in the right place at the right time to make a big play. While he only has one interception in his career, he would be a nice fit in Indy. Both Malik Hooker and Khari Willis got burned repeatedly last season. A new safety could make things better for the defense.

Danny Shelton, DT

Shelton is coming off the best season of his career, as he recorded 61 tackles and 3 sacks while playing up front for New England. Shelton is still just 27 years old and should be hitting the prime of his career. He also had two tackles for loss and forced a fumble.

The Colts need some help up front, especially at the defensive tackle position. Shelton would be a great player to bring in on a relatively cheap contract. He would rotate in at tackle and provide some great plays over the course of a season.

These guys might not be high on most fans’ radar, but the Colts might sniff around these guys and see if they would be right to bring in.
