The Colts are a team with plenty of holes to fill after a sub-par season in 2019, but the offense has two main holes. Which do they need to fill more?

Last season, the Colts were beset by a multitude of injuries to their offense. A lot of those injuries were to wide receivers, including T.Y. Hilton, Parris Campbell, and Devin Funchess. Those players combined to miss 30 games. It made it hard for the offense to be consistent.

Those injuries hampered their ability as an offense, and limited Jacoby Brissett‘s effectiveness. Even when they are all healthy, the Colts still need a second wide receiver to pair alongside Hilton. That is a big need that could be solved through the draft.

The argument can be made that a receiver is only as good as his quarterback. Brissett was not a good quarterback to anyone over the last half of the season. He missed wide-open guys. He only threw four touchdowns in his last 8 games.

That begs the question, which do they need more; a quarterback or a wide receiver? They will have to decide what to do with their 13th overall pick. The free-agent market gives more options for a quarterback than it does for a wide receiver. Maybe that’s the route the Colts go instead of with the draft.

We will learn more next week when free agency officially begins. The Colts likely won’t sign a QB because of the track record that Chris Ballard has built over his first three years as a GM. He might sign a receiver as insurance, but not a true playmaker. That leaves the draft.

Next. Quinton Jefferson could be a good add for Colts. dark

The questions and speculation will finally be over no later than the end of April. As a Colts fan, I can’t wait for answers.
