4. Tom Brady: Because it’s Tom Brady

The last option for the Colts would be Tom Brady. He has been rumored to sign with at least eight different teams in the NFL, and the Colts are one of them. It’s obvious that Brady, one of the best quarterbacks of all time, would be a good fit for the team. Brady isn’t a mobile threat at all, but the Colts have one of the league’s best offensive lines. The team’s rushing attack is better than that of the Patriots, which means Brady wouldn’t need to throw up to 40 times per game, similar to Rivers’ situation if he were to sign with the team.

The Patriots’ biggest issue right now is their lack of weapons, and the Colts have a better group right now. Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines are a good duo to aid Brady in the run game. TY Hilton and Jack Doyle provide good receiving threats in the flats and on deep throws, not to mention that the team holds the 13th pick and could very well draft a wide receiver to complement Hilton.

It seems like a perfect situation for the Colts; he is a more accurate and more talented Philip Rivers. The only thing holding this back is the fact that it is very unlikely for Brady to sign. Indianapolis isn’t a large market for his TB12 brand and for his model wife. It seems silly to have these things as deciding factors in signing with a team, but Brady is 43 years old and has many things outside of football that is just as important as the team in it.

Indianapolis is also the home of legendary quarterback and rival, Peyton Manning. It seems highly unlikely, and simply awkward at that, to see Brady walking past Manning’s statue into Lucas Oil Stadium every Sunday.
