Quarterback. player. 46. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Utah State. JordanLove. 1

It just feels like the Indianapolis Colts are ready to get things started in terms of planning for the long term at the quarterback position. There’s a lot of talk about Jacoby Brissett in recent weeks, with reports out there that he might be the starter come week one of the 2020 season.

In this scenario, that may just be the case as Ballard and company select Utah State’s Jordan Love. Love received a ton of hype heading into the 2019 college season, especially after posting a 32:6 touchdown-to-interception ratio as a sophomore and making some stunning throws on tape. After a coaching change and a lot of the talent turnover around him, things went south for Love and the Aggies. He threw just 20 touchdowns and a whopping 17 interceptions before announcing his plans to declare for the draft.

The good news is that the potential is there for Love. A lot of interceptions can be corrected with a better idea of coverages, especially reading linebackers in underneath zones. That comes with development. What can’t be taught is the jaw-dropping throws he can make to all levels of the field, from lasers out on the boundary to beautiful throws dropped in the bucket. His touch, arm talent, and affinity for making plays out of the pocket and off-schedule make him a prime candidate to sit a season and take the reigns in 2021.
