We have shown you plenty of options that the Colts have at the quarterback position, but this is what they should do based on their options.

The Colts have several options at quarterback for the 2020 season. They can go through the draft to get a new one, sign one in free agency, or stay the course with who they have. All of them have pros and cons, but all three still give them a chance to win more games than they did in 2019.

Bringing in a free agent would be be the most sexy option. That would mean Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, or Teddy Bridgewater would all be in play. Those three would be the most likely, even though Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston would likely be available as well.

Drafting someone would mean using the 13th overall pick on Justin Herbert, Jordan Love, or perhaps Tua Tagovailoa if he slides. They could also use the 34th overall pick on someone like Jacob Eason or Jake Fromm, and they could still start from day one.

But the option that makes the most sense, even if the fans don’t like it, is to have Jacoby Brissett start in 2020. He will finally get a chance to throw to receivers who are healthy and will have another year of familiarity with being the guy.

It would be smart to do it that way because if he ends up still being bad, they can draft Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, or someone else who ends up being a top QB draft prospect. They can cut Brissett after the season too because his extension would be up.

Adding more playmakers to help Brissett makes more sense. Drafting a player like Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb would be an excellent addition to the receiving corp and would make Brissett’s job a lot easier. That would make the offense much more consistent.

No one at the combine was really a wowing prospect either, not that the Colts look at combine numbers too closely. This would be the best thing for the franchise moving forward.
