The defensive backs shined on day four of the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. Could the Colts select any in the 2020 NFL Draft?

The last day of the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine finished up on Sunday, and one of the last steps before the draft has come and gone. Now it’s on to pro days and prospect visits for Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts.

The defensive backs looked great on the final day with plenty putting up good testing numbers and looking great in the on-field drills. The Colts have a good group in the secondary already set up. Kenny Moore continues to play at star level, and Malik Hooker is very good on the back end when he’s healthy. However, don’t rule out the idea of Ballard drafting someone, either a corner or a hybrid defender who can play in multiple spots.

Let’s look at some players who could be good fits come April who did well on Sunday.

For every RAS score, follow Kent Lee Platte on Twitter here.

Jeremy Chinn, S, SIU, and Kyle Dugger, S, Lenoir-Rhyne

The two small-school standouts who received invites to the Senior Bowl (and subsequently looked great in Mobile) continued their domination of the draft process in Indianapolis at the combine.

Jeremy Chinn was especially dominant, running a 4.45 40 yard dash at 6’3″ and 221 pounds. He put up elite RAS scores in every category, including the explosion tests, where he jumped 41 inches in the vertical and 11 feet, six inches in the broad. Chinn has plenty of range to play on the back end and enough size and physicality to move down into the box. He’s someone the Colts could target to play alongside Hooker if they so choose.

Kyle Dugger looked great as well, posting a 4.49 in the 40 at 217 pounds. He jumped 42 inches and 11 feet in the vert and broad, respectively. Dugger projects more as a box safety or linebacker, but could be intriguing as a nickel who can shut down tight ends.

Terrell Burgess, S, Utah

Terrell Burgess is another prospect to watch for the Indianapolis Colts, again because of his versatility. He posed an elite RAS, which was helped out by a 10 foot, two inch broad jump and a 4.46 40, a great time for safeties.

As far as a prospect goes, Burgess fits really well converting to the nickel position. He has great instincts near the line of scrimmage and finishes well as a tackler. He would fit perfectly in the Colts defense as a mid-round selection.

Troy Pride Jr., CB, Notre Dame

If the Colts decide to look earlier in the NFL Draft, perhaps in the third round, someone like Troy Pride could make sense. Pride has been one of the biggest risers throughout the draft process, playing well at the Senior Bowl and posting good numbers at the combine.

He posted okay results in the agility and explosion categories, but his big number from the day was his 4.40 40, a fantastic time for him. Pride also looked very fluid and comfortable in on-field drills, especially dominating in the change of direction drills.

Reggie Robinson II, CB, Tulsa

Robinson is another riser in the corner class, and his athletic testing went really well. At 6’0″ and 205 pounds, Robinson jumped 11 feet in the broad jump, and ran a 4.44. Those numbers are great for his size. Ballard will like the athletic profile and see a tall, long corner who could be a good pick on day three of the draft.

Darnay Holmes, CB, UCLA

Holmes didn’t do a lot of testing, but his on-field drills went very well. He looked great at changing direction and tracked the ball well down the field. Holmes is another who had a great week at the Senior Bowl, and he could be a potential option in the slot for the Colts in the draft.

Next. Colts success falls on Ballard's draft record. dark
