3. Jordan Love, Utah State

Colts fans know all about Utah State quarterback Jordan Love by now. He’s been a popular pick at 13 overall in mock drafts for quite some time. Here, he earns the number three spot on the big board.

Love has all the tools that a team could want at the quarterback position. His arm talent is off the charts. Love can fire a rope on a 20 yard out and also drop the ball into a bucket 30 yards downfield with great touch. He can also create magic on the run and off-platform and make it look easy. It’s important to note that while he made some unreal throws in 2019, he also threw 17 interceptions. His ability to recognize underneath linebackers needs to improve, but the talent is there to become a franchise quarterback. The Colts are really his best fit, where he could potentially sit and learn for a season and take the league by storm in 2021.

4. Justin Herbert, Oregon

Justin Herbert sits neck-and-neck with Love in contention for the third spot with similar upside. His arm talent is also excellent, and he can fire lasers 50 yards down the field. He’s gotten better with touch throws but they still need some work. He makes great plays on the move, and doesn’t lose accuracy or power when he does so. Herbert’s athleticism was on full display during the Rose Bowl, where he ran for three touchdowns.

Herbert was limited in Oregon’s offense in 2019 and didn’t get as many opportunities to showcase his skill set as he should have. His leadership has come into question in recent months, but from what we’ve learned, those questions don’t have much foundation.

Herbert’s biggest question is his inconsistency. When Herbert is on, his ability can reach the top tier of quarterbacks in the class. However, he has games where he misses throws left and right. The talent Herbert has is still worth a selection at 13.

The Colts should be pleased with either at 13.
