Oklahoma. JalenHurts. 75. 46. QB. Pick Analysis. player. Scouting Report

Fans seem to demand a new starting quarterback. Most of them are convinced Brissett isn’t the man for the job. It’s likely he gets one more year to show if he is or not, and that leaves us with this third round draft pick. Jalen Hurts would be a great third round pick.

Hurts started his career at Alabama and led them to the national championship game. Then Tua came in during halftime of that game and took over his job. Hurts decided to transfer to Oklahoma where he really showcased his improved passing skills.

In his only year with he Sooners, he threw for 3,851 yards and 32 touchdowns as opposed to just 8 interceptions. He completed close to 70% of his passes as well, and actually threw fewer passes than he did his freshman year. He also showed off his running ability.

Hurts ran the ball 233 times for 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. While he won’t need to run the ball that much in the NFL, nor should any team that drafts him want him to, that shows his ability to extend the play and escape the pocket if he needs to.

Grooming Hurts to play if Brissett ends up tanking again would be a good strategy. It gives Hurts time to learn an NFL offense and get integrated into the NFL game. It would also give Frank Reich time to design an offense that best fits his skills.

Fourth round picks are guys who are borderline in their ability to produce for the team, but the Colts have had good success with them. Who would they take this year?
