The Colts shook up their staff by adding several new coaches to help improve the staff, including a new defensive line and receivers coach.

Staff changes are inevitable in the NFL. That is especially true when a team doesn’t perform well. The Colts decided to shake up their staff a little bit and add a bunch of new coaches. It can be good to get new voices in certain rooms as well.

The Colts hired Brian Baker as the defensive line coach. Baker has 19 years of NFL experience, most recently in 2014. Most recently, he was the defensive line/associate head coach for Alabama. Baker will be tasked with fixing a defensive line that regressed in 2019.

Mike Groh is the new wide receivers coach. Groh has 8 seasons of NFL experience, and was the offensive coordinator for the Eagles the last couple of years. Before that, he was their wide receivers coach in 2017. Hopefully this unit can produce better than they did a year ago.

Tyler Boyles is now an assistant to the head coach. All of his coaching experience is at the collegiate level, including the last five years at Middle Tennessee State. Boyles has moved fast up the coaching ranks, as he was a grad assistant just five years ago.

Kevin Patullo has been named the team’s passing game specialist. Patullo is moving into a different capacity with the Colts after having been their wide receivers coach for the last two years. He has previously coached with the Titans, Jets, Bills, and Chiefs.

Parks Frazier is now the offensive quality control coach. He was an assistant to the head coach the past two years for the Colts. Before that, he coached in college at Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State, and Samford.

All of these coaches should help a team that underperformed in 2019. Hopefully these moves help push the team into the playoffs in 2020.
