The former Colt has had to wait six long years for him to get the call, but he did today and is officially a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Edgerrin James was an integral part of the mid-2000’s Colts. He was the workhorse back who carried the running game in Indy for 7 years. He has had to wait to get into the Hall of Fame for 6 long years, but now will officially get his gold jacket.

James was a member of the Colts from 1999-2005. In that time, he ran for 9,226 yards and 64 touchdowns. As a rookie, he made the Pro-Bowl and was selected First Team All-Pro. He ran for a Colts rookie record 1,553 yards and added 13 touchdowns.

Over the course of the next six seasons, he would be selected to the Pro Bowl three more times. He still holds the franchise record for most rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He was part of the great offense that was led by Peyton Manning that terrorized defenses for years.

James may not be the only former Colts player who is inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. As of this article, we are still waiting on word about Reggie Wayne‘s candidacy. James had the better chance of the two after having been a finalist the last three years.

The entire Colts family and organization is ecstatic for James, as are all the fans. He was such a big part of the Colts that Jim Irsay sent him a Super Bowl ring in 2006, the year after James left the Colts for the Arizona Cardinals.
