Colts QB possibilities: Jacob Eason
By Ryan Stano
We have a few other quarterbacks to cover who might end up in a Colts uniform. Next we look at a guy who transferred from the SEC to the PAC-12.
Jacob Eason was the starter at Georgia before he got hurt a game into his sophomore year. After that, he lost his starting job to Jake Fromm. Eason decided it was better to transfer out west to Washington to play his Junior season and then declared for the draft.
In his lone season at Washington, he threw for 3,123 yards and 23 touchdowns. He completed 64% of his passes and only threw 8 interceptions. He showed great poise in the pocket and showed improvement from his freshman year when he started at Georgia.
Eason is a very intriguing prospect because we don’t know a ton about him yet. He really only played two full years in college, with one of those years being as a true freshman. We don’t know how he reacts in certain situations yet.
That being said, he has fantastic size at 6’6 and 227. He doesn’t move around a ton, but can move around enough where he isn’t a stiff out there. His arm strength is above average, although not quite what you would want to see from a guy as big as he is.
Eason could be available in the second round. The Colts have a couple of picks in that round and could use one on him. Because of the value of that pick and where they can get him, Eason could be a solid choice. He is still raw and has the talent to be a good QB at the next level.
Eason could shoot up draft boards if he performs well at the combine as well, which could change the Colts’ plans.
