This team clearly needs some upgrades along the roster to make it better and more competitive. These are the areas of need that should be addressed with the most urgency.

The Colts were a very disappointing 7-9 football team in 2019. They were a mess offensively the whole second half of the season, and their defensive effort was extremely poor. There are several areas of the roster that need improved if they want to make the playoffs next season.

Right now, the biggest area of improvement needs to come from the wide receivers. They need to get some playmakers who can break for some big yards. Having Parris Campbell and T.Y. Hilton healthy will help, but they still need someone else. A guy like CeeDee Lamb would be huge if he would fall to them in the first round.

The defensive line needs some work, especially on the interior. Denico Autry had a bad season after a great start. Margus Hunt was almost non-existent. Tyquan Lewis can’t stay on the field. Signing a player like Vernon Butler, who had 6 sacks, would be a nice move.

Having the defensive line improve in their pursuit of the quarterback helps the rest of the defense be better as well. The secondary was really bad the last month of the year, but the pieces are there. They just need to communicate better on the back-end.

It’s up in the air whether or not quarterback is another area of need. Jacoby Brissett played very poorly down the stretch, but all of his weapons were hurt as well. It seems like he will get a little bit more time to show what he can do when everyone is there.

Next. Colts need to diversify their defensive scheme. dark

Tight end is also an area of need, but we covered that already. These are all areas that the Colts will address with adding players in the draft and free agency. It will be interesting to see who they get to address these deficiencies in the roster.
