While the playoffs are starting today, the Colts won’t be participating. That’s because they missed several opportunities over the course of this season.

The Colts will be sitting back at home this January after a disappointing finish to the season. It seems that last year’s trip to the playoffs was an aberration compared to their other recent seasons. But quite frankly, Indianapolis should be playing this week.

There were several games that the Colts could have won to put themselves into one of the games this weekend. The opener went into overtime after some poor kicking from Adam Vinatieri. Vinny also missed a kick to win in Pittsburgh, and missed two kicks against Tennessee.

Winning any two of those games would have put them in the playoffs this weekend. Instead, the whole team will be sitting at home lamenting the opportunities that they missed. They get to sit at home and watch some teams that they beat play instead.

Hopefully watching these playoffs will give them a sense of motivation to improve their team for next season. They need to do a lot of things better if they want to be playing in January in 2021. The passing game, secondary, and special teams all need to be much better if they want to have a chance to win a title.

Right now though, the only thing they can do is rest up and get healthy. Once they are, they can attack some offseason work to make sure they win more close games.
