It was never close from the start. The Colts never threatened to compete in this game and embarrassed themselves on national television.

T.Y. Hilton worked hard to get back for this game. He thought his presence could give the Colts’ offense some juice and help them be more successful. He was wrong. The offense was awful, and the team got blown out in embarrassing fashion to the tune of 34-7.

There is not a single unit on this team that played well tonight. The offense clearly wasn’t efficient, and quite honestly they didn’t even threaten to score when it mattered. The defense got scorched all night long and let Drew Brees complete any pass he wanted in any part of the field.

To no one’s surprise, the special teams also was bad. They had a punt blocked immediately after a holding penalty negated a punt being downed at the 3-yard line. It was just a complete and utter clown show out there tonight from the Colts. It was hard to watch.

Perhaps the toughest thing to watch from this team the last few weeks has been their secondary. They have gotten eviscerated the last two weeks, and quite frankly the last couple of months. Every member of the secondary has played sub par and it was very surprising to see this season.

With this loss, the Colts are officially eliminated from making the playoffs. It’s the fourth time in the last five seasons that the Colts have missed the playoffs. You would have thought that this team would be in better shape than it is, but so many questions have to be answered in the offseason.

Chief among those questions is what to do at the quarterback position. Jacoby Brissett has looked like a deer in the headlights the last two months. He misses open receivers and is afraid to throw it down the field. It might be smart to at least look at other options in the offseason.

Next. Colts' brass must answer for poor roster management. dark

These last two weeks will tell us a lot about this team. I hope to see them play harder than what they did tonight, because it made my eyes bleed the whole time.
