One of the toughest players on the team gets rewarded for his stellar play, and the hometown hero gets three more years with the Colts.

Jack Doyle has been the consummate professional since he joined the Colts in 2013. The Cathedral product has been one of the best players for the Colts since that time. Now he gets further rewarded for his stellar play, as the team decided to re-sign him to a 3-year deal.

That new deal will pay him $21 million over that 3-year span. The Colts have plenty of cap space to play with. This is definitely a good use of that cap space. Doyle brings a lot to this football teams and will continue to do so for a long time. It would be great if the team can get more players like him.

Doyle is an all-purpose tight end. He has some of the best hands on the team. He runs precise routes and does a great job being where he needs to be on pass plays. In the red zone, he is a threat to score touchdowns at any time.

In the run game is where Doyle makes the biggest contribution to this team though. He is without a doubt the best lead blocker that Indy has. He leads without hesitation and hits the hole hard and can get linebackers in the second level. That’s the biggest reason they re-signed him.

It’s a great day for Doyle and a great day for the Colts too. They locked up a fan-favorite who is one of their best overall players. Hopefully he can repay them with a big game on Sunday against the Buccaneers.
