Colts trying to build momentum for next season

There’s a very good chance that the Colts don’t make the playoffs this year. The rest of the 2019 season should be about building momentum for next season.

The Colts still technically have a shot to make the playoffs. They are only a game back from the 6th seed with four left to play. But the problem is they are really two games back of both teams ahead of them because of losing in head to head contests.

Because of that fact, they need to just try to build some momentum for next season in these last four games. It will be an audition for several players, including Jacoby Brissett. If Brissett can turn his play around these last four games, he might permanently be given the keys to the Colts’ offense.

Chase McLaughlin gets a chance to make an impression as well. It has been reported today by multiple outlets that Adam Vinatieri might not play again this season because of a knee injury. He had an MRI today and it is unclear just how bad the injury is.

Marcus Johnson and Ashton Dulin have a chance to earn more playing time next year too. They get the time because of T.Y. Hilton, Devin Funchess, and Chester Rogers being out. If the Colts don’t keep them, they can get a chance from someone else.

Ross Travis has the same opportunity. He gets the opportunity because of Eric Ebron being on IR. Travis has one last chance to show what he can do on an active roster. If he doesn’t take advantage of it, he might be a lifelong practice squad player.

Everyone needs to be working towards the goal of being a better football team next year than they were this year.
