Colts’ Jacoby Brissett shouldn’t start vs. Dolphins
By Ryan Stano
Even though he is listed as a game-time decision, the Colts should sit their starting quarterback for their game against the Dolphins.
Jacoby Brissett only played a couple of series against the Steelers a week ago before hurting his knee. He had to miss the rest of the game after a sprained MCL. Because of that, Brian Hoyer had to fill in and did a decent job of it. If the Colts are smart, they’d start Hoyer tomorrow.
The reason why they should start Hoyer is because they are playing Miami. Miami stinks. They only have one win on the season and that was against the somehow worse Jets. The Colts don’t need Brissett to win this game because of how poor the Miami defense is.
There is no reason the Colts should put Brissett out there and risk him worsening his injury if they don’t need him to win. They need him more for future games, especially the next two weeks against divisional foes Jacksonville and Houston.
Getting Hoyer some reps in a live game setting also could help him. When he entered in the game a week ago, he wasn’t too sharp early on. He threw an extremely costly pick-six in the game too. Having him play the whole game could give him some confidence if he needed to enter in a game again.
The bottom line is this; the Colts don’t need Brissett to beat Miami. Because of that simple fact, it would be in the best interest of the team to play Hoyer instead.
