AFC South roundup: Colts fall out of 1st
By Ryan Stano
It was a rough weekend for the Colts as they fell out of first place in the division. But they still have time to make up the difference.
The Colts fell to the Steelers in heartbreaking fashion yesterday 26-24. They missed a game-winning field goal from 43 yards out. That loss drops them to 5-3 and a half game out of first place in the AFC South. They will face Miami next week at home.
The new first place team is the Houston Texans. They dismantled the Jaguars in London 26-3. That lifts their record to 6-3. They look like a consistent offense and they played well on defense despite losing J.J. Watt for this season with a torn pectoral. They travel to Baltimore next week.
Jacksonville on the other hand looked like a lost team. They fall to 4-5 on the season. It sure looks like Nick Foles will be back as the starter next week after Gardner Minshew had a terrible performance that included three turnovers on three straight drives. They play the Colts next after a bye next week.
Tennessee also looks like a lost team. They fell to the Panthers 30-20. Their record is also 4-5 and are tied with the Jags for last place in the AFC South. They have no answer at quarterback and look to be on their way to a disappointing finish. They play the Chiefs next week.
The Colts still have everything in front of them. They can still win the division. The health of Jacoby Brissett will determine how far they go though. Hopefully his knee sprain isn’t too bad.
