Week 8 was a wild one in the NFL. The Colts were able to win and keep first place in the AFC South. How did the rest of the division do?

The Colts remain at the top of the AFC South after their 15-13 win over the Broncos. They still hold tiebreakers over the Texans and the Titans as well, so they are in good shape moving forward. But they only have a one game lead in the standings right now.

That’s because the Texans also won this week. They beat the Raiders 27-24 in a hard-fought matchup. Houston actually had to come back to win this one. They keep the Raiders from going 2-0 against the AFC South so far. They play that Jags in London next week.

Speaking of the Jags, they won this week as well. They beat a really bad Jets squad 29-15 to improve their record to 4-4. They are still in the thick of the divisional race. Gardner Minshew continues to play well for them. The early start in London against Houston will be a big game for both teams.

Tennessee also won this week, bringing the AFC South’s total to 4-0 on the week. They beat the struggling Bucs 27-23. Clearly the Marcus Mariota era is over in Titan land and they will keep rolling with Ryan Tannehill. They play the Panthers next week in a battle of backup quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, the Colts didn’t get much help from the rest of the division to separate themselves. They are still in the driver’s seat, but they can’t lose focus down the stretch. Otherwise, they might not win this suddenly competitive division.
