While we thought this team had what it took to win a lot of games, we have to remember that it is still a really young, developing team.

The Colts have one of the youngest rosters in the league. That is good and bad. It’s good because they are set up really well for the future. But it’s bad because there are plenty of growing pains that come with a young team. The Colts are dealing with those pains now.

Having a defense with young starters such as Darius Leonard, Anthony Walker, Clayton Geathers and Rock Ya-Sin means that there will be bumps in the road. Clearly that’s what the defense is experiencing right now, because they are truly awful.

Fans can’t expect the rookies and young players to play perfectly every week. But they can expect them to play better than what they have so far. They will get better as we get deeper into the season and they can see their mistakes on film and they can fix them.

The offense is more experienced so they can be expected to play well. They have for the most part done what they have needed to do. But they still need to protect the ball better in big spots. The offensive line also has some young guys on it who are still growing.

Next. 5 things we learned about the Colts. dark

Hopefully that growing can take place sooner rather than later. The Colts need that to happen if they want this season to mean anything. To make the playoffs, these young guys have to produce.
