Jacoby Brissett was thrust in a tough situation coming into the season. He had to take over the team after the abrupt retirement of Andrew Luck. Since then, he has played really well. Even though yesterday wasn’t his best game, he’s been good under the circumstances.

Brissett only has 911 yards so far but also has 10 touchdowns. He also only has 2 interceptions so far, but one of them was a pick-six late in the game on Sunday. He has generally done a good job managing the game well and hasn’t turned it over in big spots.

The passing game will continue to improve as the season goes on. He will get more comfortable in the offense and unleash his strong arm. Injuries have hurt the offense too. T.Y. Hilton and Devin Funchess were both out on Sunday, and Funchess will be out for awhile too.

Once Hilton gets back healthy, the whole offense will open back up. He is the best receiver they have and is still their best deep threat. He ends up getting double teamed a lot and that opens up the rest of the offense. Everything will help Brissett continue to progress.

As long as the wide receivers can stay healthy, the offense should continue to get better. It has to be the way the defense is playing. Regardless, Brissett looks like the franchise quarterback of the future for this team.

Four games in, special teams continue to be an issue though.
