Home openers are a big thing, especially when you play your first two games on the road. Teams are always juiced to play in front of their home fans. This Sunday will be the same thing for the Colts in their home opener. Everyone will be jacked to play.

But they have to be careful to not be too jacked. If players are too jacked, they make mistakes. Those mistakes manifest themselves in the form of penalties. Sometimes they are roughing the passer or unnecessary roughness penalties, sometimes they are holding penalties.

No matter what kind of penalties they are, they can’t happen. The Colts don’t have a good enough team to overcome penalties, especially on the offensive side. They can’t get behind schedule because it kills drives and puts them in third and long situations.

Frank Reich should have his team pretty well under control. They are typically a pretty disciplined team on both ends. But you always worry about something like this when it comes around. If they don’t have any bonehead penalties, they will be in good shape.

Key number two has to deal with the pass coverage on defense.
