As we get closer to the second game of the season, the Colts seem to be having an issue keeping guys off of the injury report.

Yesterday’s injury report was pretty simple. It was just Jabaal Sheard, Jonathan Williams, and Kemoko Turay. It made sense that Sheard and Williams were on there, and it makes sense to give Turay some extra rest from the neck issue he had in practice last week.

But now there are new names on that list. While all three of those players are still hurt, although Williams was a limited participant today, some other starters have joined. Clayton Geathers is the most notable name, as he was held out today due to rest.

It seems odd that a player would need rest not even two weeks into the season. But this is a guy who suffered a serious neck injury. Zaire Franklin was also held out of practice due to a hip injury. Franklin is a guy who plays a decent amount sometimes, so they need him out there.

Two other players were limited practice participants because of the heat. They are Deon Cain and Ryan Lewis. These guys better get used to the heat, because it’s going to be hot in Nashville on Sunday. It could feel close to 100 degrees by kickoff.

Hopefully, both players can hydrate and be out there on the field to help the team. Cain is especially needed in the wake of the Devin Funchess injury. They need him to be out on the field as much as possible.
