Although the Colts didn’t win their season opener, they got some help to start out the year in the race for the AFC South crown.

The Colts were unable to get a victory Sunday, losing to the Chargers in overtime. But they were able to get some help from the rest of the teams in their division. That’s because only one team in the AFC South won on the opening weekend of the season.

That team was the Titans. They cruised in Cleveland, destroying the Browns 43-13. Tennessee’s defense was stifling and forced three interceptions from Baker Mayfield. The Colts play the Titans next week, so they better be ready to beat that defense.

Jacksonville lost more than just their season opener on Sunday. In addition to losing to the Chiefs 40-26, they lost their brand new quarterback to injury. Nick Foles broke his collarbone and has been placed on IR. It’s a tough blow to have in week one. They play at Houston next week.

Speaking of Houston, they lost in heartbreaking fashion on Monday night. They lost on a 58 yard field goal by Wil Lutz, and the Saints won 30-28. The Texans have to feel good about how they played though and should still be riding high with confidence going into their game against the Jaguars.

Next. Colts' future still bright despite loss. dark

It would have been nice for the Colts to win their first game. But seeing only one other team win in the division is helpful. It doesn’t put them too far back in the early race for the division title.
