The Colts had to make some hard decisions today in trimming their roster. Here’s some notables who made it.

Every team in the league had to cut their roster today. There are a lot of good football players that didn’t earn a job today. That’s just the nature of the business. But some notable players made the Colts today.

One of those players is Hale Hengtes. The undrafted free agent is one of four tight ends to make the squad. That also means that Ross Travis didn’t make it.

Hengtes played very well in the preseason. He’s a more complete tight end than Travis. Hengtes can block better in all situations and still has good hands.

Another surprise who made it is Le’Raven Clark. Anyone who reads my articles on this website knows my feelings on Clark. He’s a bad left tackle who never performs well. I’m shocked the Colts kept him.

Marvelll Tell also made it. The rookie played poorly most of the preseason but showed enough potential to make the Colts trade Nate Hairston and keep him instead. Tell will have time to develop and get better behind an improved secondary.

Phillip Walker was also let go. This was no surprise as he was outplayed all preseason by Chad Kelly. The Colts are only going to keep two quarterbacks. They will likely sign one before the season starts while Kelly is suspended for the first two games.
