In the final preseason game, it was all about the backups trying to make the team. The Colts won too 13-6.

The fourth preseason game is the last chance that players get to make impressions. Most of the guys who played tonight were fighting for jobs. Some of them played well, while others solidified their spots off the squad.

One player who continues to look good is Chad Kelly. Kelly went 13/16 for 138 yards and ran for a score. He did throw one interception in which he woefully underthrew the receiver. But he has looked like the best option to backup Jacoby Brissett so far. That’s because Phillip Walker looked poor and didn’t lead the Colts to a touchdown.

Parris Campbell played his first game as a Colt and looked good. He played the entire first half and had 3 catches for 42 yards. He showcased his blazing speed on a nice crossing route and teased fans with what they can expect from the rookie this season.

EJ Speed was the star of the defense. He was all over the field and led the team in tackles. As a rookie, he could make an impact right away. Carroll Phillips looked good too recording two sacks and a fumble recovery off one of those sacks. The defense as a whole looked great.

The special teams were a disaster. Penny Hart fumbled the ball twice on punt returns and the Colts missed a field goal too. These are things that can’t happen when the regular season rolls around. I would expect that to be cleaned up.

It was nice to see the Colts win a game, especially after everything that happened this past week. Hopefully they can carry this momentum into Los Angeles for week one.
