Ryan Tannehill currently plays for a divisional foe, playing for the Titans. He is the backup to Marcus Mariota right now, but he could end up playing some time this season. He would be a nice backup for Brissett if the Colts wanted to make a trade for him.

Tannehill has all kinds of starting experience, having been the starter in Miami since 2012. He wasn’t great in Miami, but he was pretty good in some stretches. As far as backups go, he would be one of the top ones in the league based on that experience.

The problem is he could end up playing for the Titans at some point this year. They aren’t sold on Mariota, and Tannehill could push him for playing time. Because of that, Tannehill might not even be on the market. If he is, it would be a be for a hefty price.

Even though the Colts have some draft picks to work with, using a second round pick for a guy that is already in his late 20s to be a backup isn’t a smart move. If Brissett were to get hurt, Tannehill could step in and be decent. But it might not be worth the price.

This next guy would be worth the price, and it might work out for both teams involved.
