Teddy Bridgewater would be a great option for the Colts if he was available. Bridgewater was supposed to be the franchise quarterback in Minnesota before he had that terrible non-contact injury during a practice that tore up his knee. Now he’s the backup in New Orleans.

The problem is the availability part of this. New Orleans made him the highest paid backup in the league this season, signing him to a 1 year deal worth over $7 million. A lot of people think he could be the heir apparent for Drew Brees after this season.

Because of that scenario, making this trade would be a little tricky. The Saints have gotten good play from Taysom Hill in the preseason, so they might feel a little bit better letting Bridgewater go. But they would still be asking for a high price for him in any trade.

That price might be in the range of a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Bridgewater is coveted around the league, so the Colts wouldn’t be the only one in the market for him. The question is, would that price be worth it? Bridgewater could be a starter of the future if Brissett doesn’t pan out this season.

Bridgewater would be a nice option, but the price might ultimately be too high on him. The same could be the same for his next quarterback.
