Next week is the key week of practice for the franchise quarterback. If he is able to get on the field and practice this week, he can possibly get ready for week 1.

Andrew Luck is the most talked about man in Indianapolis right now. His injury has been something everyone’s followed since it happened in spring. It looks like his high ankle injury is feeling a little better based on the drills he did prior to the game abasing the Browns.

But in order for him to play week 1, he has to be in a couple of weeks of practice for the coaches to feel comfortable. They want to make sure that he doesn’t have pain, or if he does it’s not too bad where he can play through it without injuring it further.

Frank Reich has already said that Luck will not practice this week because he is still feeling pain. They want to know his status by Monday to see if he can go for week 1. Knowing how well he is feeling by then will let them know if he can play.

Time is of the essence now to determine his status. Him continuing to not practice has been a problem. Jacoby Brissett has been taking all of the first team reps, and it seems increasingly likely that he will have to play week 1. That chance is very real.

If Brissett does have to play, the Colts have been preparing for it. They should feel some level of comfort having him out there. But he still isn’t as good as Luck. It would be a drop in play.
