This Indianapolis Colts team has everything it needs to make a deep run into the postseason personnel wise. But it needs to be more consistent, and that’s what this training camp is all about.
Last season was a roller coaster of emotions for the Colts and their fans. They started out a lowly 1-5 and rallied together to make the playoffs. Now they have real expectations about their season. But to reach those expectations, they have to be more consistent.
On both sides of the ball, they weren’t steady last season. They had some games where their offense was really good and their defense wasn’t. They had some games where the opposite was true. That can’t happen this year if they want to be playing in February.
The Colts know that they have to do something in this training camp to make sure that why are more consistent. They have to be more disciplined as well. They committed too many penalties a year ago, and penalties kill the momentum of teams.
It would be great if they could get themselves to be that consistent. That is what all of the great teams have when they win championships. They are consistent with their play. Not all championship teams play up to their potential, but they make up for that with consistent play.
The Colts hope they can do both this season. Training camp is a great way to start that process. We won’t learn anything until they step on the field for their first game. But they can work on it now anyway.
