The Colts finally got their wide receiver, taking Parris Campbell with the 59th overall pick. They are going to like this kid.
It took three picks, but the Colts finally addressed the need at wide receiver. They took Parris Campbell with the 59th overall pick out of Ohio State. Campbell is one of the fastest receivers in the draft, and the Colts are going to like him a lot.
As an Ohio State alum, I watched Campbell his entire college career. He had over 1,000 yards receiving this past year at Ohio State. He also had 90 catches and 9 touchdowns. Ohio State used him in a variety of ways because of his speed, and I expect the Colts to do the same.
Campbell gives the Colts another speedy option on the outside. He torched a lot of defenses this past year, including a great performance against Michigan. Campbell is 6’1 and 208 lbs and runs a 4.3 40 yard dash. That kind of speed can’t be taught.
Andrew Luck gets another weapon to throw to, and this weapon is fairly reliable in terms of making the catch. He also can be used in some sweeps, as he had 24 rushes in his career. He can make a lot of good plays with the ball in his hands, and that’s something the Colts need.
The Colts might look to get another receiver at some point later in the draft. They can use another tall receiver. But Campbell is a great pick at this draft slot and has the potential to be a really good player for years to come.
