Jerry Tillery is a defensive tackle out of Notre Dame. He makes this list because there has been a lot of chatter about the Colts being interested in this in-state product. He is also another guy that can be used to rush the passer up front, which the Colts covet.

Tillery was able to record 7 sacks last season for Notre Dame despite only having a total of 28 tackles. Those 28 tackles were down from the 56 he had notched the year before. But his sack total was also down the year before, only recording 4.5 sacks.

The biggest reason for that decline in total tackles is simple. Teams decided that it was better to double team Tillery than play him one-on-one and get wrecked inside. Tillery is a big guy at 6’7 305 pounds and would likely be a defensive tackle at the next level.

He makes sense for the Colts to take because of his rushing the passer ability. The Colts don’t like to blitz a whole lot and need their front four to get to the quarterback because of that. Tillery fits that mold as a defensive tackle.

That being said, defensive line is not as big of a need as safety or wide receiver. If I had my way, the team would take either one of Brown or Abram before they chose to take Tillery. But we will find out for sure tonight at 8pm.
