Every new year starts with free agency, but for the Colts it really starts with the draft. That new journey is set up to be wild.

The NFL Draft starts on Thursday night. It has been a long and winding build up for the draft for the last few months. But now that it is almost finally here, the journey of next season can begin. The Colts’ journey in particular is set up to be a wild one.

The reason for that is because of how high the expectations are for them. They know that everyone expects them to get further than what they did last year. That means a deeper playoff run and better play to start the season. And that all starts with the draft.

Most of the players the Colts will be looking at are players that can contribute right away. Some of them will contribute more than others, but they will all most likely be given a chance to do something early on. That is something Chris Ballard likes to do.

Ballard did mention that there are some players on his draft board that have some character concerns. He also mentioned that during the free agency process. He will go after some players that have some character concerns up to a point, based on the talent and the concerns.

I highly doubt that he would target anyone with concerns with the team’s first two picks. Those are too high of picks to use on players who are fliers. Expect the Colts to make picks on players like that in later rounds, if they do it at all.
